Phab is a nationwide organisation and has many clubs
throughout Britain, and we BURTON PHAB are affilliated to it, but apart from certain rules and
guidelines we are independant and as such operate on our own as much or as little as we choose.
The aim of Phab is to bring
together the disabled and able bodied in order to Make More of Life Together, and to break down any
barriers between us all.
Soundings for a club were made initially by two mums for their children,
the club was then formed in 1990 by a group of 13 people, some disabled and some of their relatives
and friends to provide a social outlet to do and see different places and things and to make more
friends, and have a enjoyable time along the way. Of the original founders 8 are still actively involved
with the club, we presently have 22 members, this number has been as high as 29. At this moment in time
there are five of us that use a wheelchair permanently and others when we go on trips and holidays.
The minibus above belongs to us and was purchased with the help of Radio Derbys Money Mountain, Charitable
donations together with our own fundraising efforts.
